Social Media are now reporting a re-discovered 2011 article in the Chinese language CommonWealth Magazine that report that the FBI and western intelligence agencies had a long history of ordering customized pagers and/ or walkie-talkies from Gold Apollo of Taiwan - the brand of the pagers that exploded en masse in Lebanon.
It is clear that the European connection was a red herring - it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to set up an assembly line to manufacture just several thousand pagers.
Apparently, pagers and walkie-talkies while it may seem "to be antiques", are actually still being made in large numbers by manufacturer Gold Apollo on the island of Taiwan.
