It is true Israel wants a good relationship with China. I have friends (retired) who told me even before official relations were in the open, Israel had unofficial channels. Apparently, many Chinese military officials wearing civilian clothing had visited Israel via invitations of the IDF or the Israelis government or some other cover. A good friend (RIP) of high ranking, who practically built the PLA's communications department, had such a long and close relationship with his Israeli counterpart. Both were leaders in satellite technology for their country (the Israeli gentleman's name is Yoel Gat, who passed away in 2022; I was at a dinner sitting next to him with many CNSA space scientists; and my friend was a member of the tech committee for the Chang'e moon-landing project). My friend showed his leanings when he praised (in private conversation) how organized and advanced Israel was and what a mess the Palestinians were in. The comment came out of nowhere and, in retrospect, he might have been preparing me for our dinner with Yoel Gat and his officials. Fortunately, my friend was not involved in politics, and he was famous for pushing high tech development for the PLA. He was well known for being uncompromisingly strict with the quality standard of communications equipment which he must approve before being commissioned. Manufacturers acted with great reverence when they see him. I was surprised to visit a satellite company in Beijing and see his portrait in their meeting room.
